Women's History Month is commemorated every year in March, acknowledging and celebrating the significant contributions of women to American history and society. The initiative traces its origins back to 1981 when Congress not only authorized but also urged the President to declare the week commencing March 7, 1982, as "Women’s History Week." Building upon this, in 1987, prompted by the National Women’s History Project, Congress officially designated the entire month of March as "Women’s History Month." This annual observance serves as a dedicated period to honor and recognize the invaluable impact women have made throughout history. (Source: womenshistorymonth.gov)
